Fleet 29 Sailors,

What a weekend of sailing! We had six San Juan's in our class at the 62nd annual Mt. Dora Yacht Club Regatta with great wind and nice weather! Five of the SJ21 were from Fleet 29!

The RC placed us with the Mutineers and the Flying Scots so we had 17 boats at the line as they did one start for all classes. Day one of the regatta was complete with collisions, over turned boats and great racing. Winds upwards of 15kts with gusts of well over 20kts and shifty kept all of the sailors on their feet. Got to hand it to the race committee they pulled off four races on day one.

With Ole Yeller capturing all bullets the first day the race was on for the one point that separated Black Jack Bill and Irish Juan for second. Day two of the regatta was as one our own put it, "Old Man Sailing" as the winds came from the north around 8-10kts. Racing was exciting on our course as the battles in SJ and FS were on.

One of the best off the water comments from sailors were how competitive and close the SJ21's are when they race. Anyone of them can win. It is amazing that not more come to the SJ Side......

In the end, Fisk and Jeffery Hayden came home with first place followed by Mike Loughlin and Andy Forrest in second and third Bill Holstein and Patti Miller. Thanks to the Mt. Dora Yacht Club for hosting the regatta and thank you to all of the Fleet 29 sailors that showed up. Scores are attached.

Next stop for Fleet 29's travel series is the Lake Weir Invitational hosted by the Ocala Sailing Club. If you have never been to this regatta you do not know what you are missing. This is a great bunch of sailors with hospitality that is over the top. Please support OSC as they are a great partner with the Fleet and other yacht clubs around the state.

Coming up this week is the LMSA Wednesday Night Rum Race which all sailor are invited to join in on the fun. Go to http://www.flalmsa.org for more information.

The fleet would like to hold a testing and practice day on Lake Monroe in the near future. Please send us your thoughts and ideas for dates.

Shirts, we have been asked about shirts and believe it of not, one of our members has the screens used from the original Aggie and Carlton Shirts. As soon as we work out the details we will let you all know and take orders. Hang in there. Coming soon!
