Hey everyone,

Sorry for the email abuse, normally I wouldn’t do this, but I know we have a few people that aren’t the most Technically savvy computer user’s in Fleet 1 so I thought I’d sent out a warning as this scam is very real, and very well thought out.

I don’t know anyone personally bitten by it, but I do know some MS employees themselves that have received these calls and even they commented while they were certain it was a scam, it was so well done they could see an “Avg Joe” easily falling for this.

So read up, Ars has a nice article about just what happens, and how inventive these people are... and if “Microsoft” starts calling you asking you to make changes to your computer... Hang up the phone

I received a call last week from someone with an Indian accent telling me I was having problems with my PC and windows applications. I own a Mac and hung up.
