Re: Genoa rigging and other sail advice (cross post)
Hey, My MKI came with tracks and cars about the middle of the cockpit coamings, and the Genny absolutely goes out around the shrouds. Not sure what to tell you about changing it, as I don't fly it that often, and never once i'm out and about. Fleet 1 never races with them. I've run both slugs and ro...

Re: Two boats into one. Sizing up the project
Which brings me to my quandary, the upper rudder gudgeons. They were cut off with a reciprocating saw which, I'm sure, at first someone tried to spin them out. Unlike the lower gudgeons they are encased in fiberglass. Has anyone else taken these out? I'm guessing that one would have to somehow grin...

Re: Boat Restoration Complete!!!!
Good luck on the transom, it sucks! Did mine from the outside... not so bad but in the end was the right call. My transom had probably had 3 different motor mounts on it before I purchased it. So the balsa that was left was as solid as baby food, which meant the outer skin had flex so much and subs...

Re: Wooden Rudder
hmmm, Most of the ones in FLeet 1 are class rudders IME. I have seen some DIY rudders crafted from Cedar though that looked quite nice.

Re: New 1976 SJ21 Mk I owner in Portland, OR
OIl canning isn't too terrible a problem, and can be fixed... But you need to work on the bunks. Get them properly fitted and the hull should pop back out. My hull rested on two 2x6's that were only about 5' long, and now she's on 4 2x4's at a full 8' length. The hull is much better supported and th...

Re: New Owner
Welcome pduff! Superbik157, make a post asking for help. There's a chance we have some members in your area, and if they're anything like what we have in Fleet 1, someone is likely to come lend you a hand:)
