The class minimum for spreader length is 25". Short Spreaders are only an advantage when you use the Genoa as they allow you sheet in more.
One of the go fast sheets has the spreaders swept back 4".

Greetings
Hey Everyjuan, I would like to let you know that Gene Adams of Port Gardner Sailboats is retiring after many years of providing parts and services for San Juan Sailboats. I am also excited to let you know that I will be taking over the business. I have known Gene for the last 10 years and I have had...

Re: Initial Spreadsheet check
I also see you are using 1/4" for your jib downhaul. I use 3/16 Dacron Double braid and it works fine.

Re: Initial Spreadsheet check
Spectra is a lower cost line. It unfortunately will creep through cam and clam cleats. There is a fix. I have 3/16 Spectra Halyards with 1/4" Dacron cover spliced in where I handle the line. This gives you a very low stretch line with enough diameter to grab and pull. I had Gene Adams can make these...

Re: Keel bolt replacement?
You can remove the keel bolt without jacking up the trailer. You will need to balance the weight of the keel on some sort of stand or trailer part on the aft end and the cable on the forward end. Once the weight is off the keel bolt, it should slide out OK. Now if your bolt is bent, things may be di...

Re: Shroud Tension
Rigging tension has not proven to be a critical factor on our boats. When you look at all the boats at a national event, the shroud tensions are all over the place. The fastest boat I know of (a certain green frog ) has theirs very loose, another boat owned by a sail-maker has theirs rather snug. Th...

Re: Handling Gusty Conditions
I think a lot of this depends on the type of traveler you have. My previous traveler was a rope style mounted on the transom. It had a wire bridal that was as flat as I could make it. Only about 6" of rise from the transom to the middle. I have seen lots of others that have much more rise. Most of t...
