Re: Looking for a SJ21 Back Stay
Today I was in a WestMarine (about an hour from where I live) and they have a rigging station where you can build whatever. Several sizes of wire rope, thimbles, sleeves, and a bench-mounted crimping tool. Also there was wire for stays/shrouds. Happy to say that my cable with 2 eyes is now made and ...

Bulkheads -USED- for Mk-II
The history of these bulkheads is not known. There are watermarks, but no delamination or structural issues. Based on limited experience with replacing my own water-damaged, delaminated bulkheads with marine plywood, I would say that these used bulkheads are marine plywood. There is no polyurethane ...

Compression post for Mk-II
This is the OEM aluminum box post with black paint. The paint is peeling a little and I'd want to repaint it, if used on my boat. Otherwise, it's solid. $25.
My best guess at shipping would be $20, but would go with the actual amount, or pick up local in Greenville, SC.

Re: Looking for a SJ21 Back Stay
What is appropriate cable? I'm just now realizing a difference in stays versus wire rope for the keel. Also, it seems that there are certain sleeve materials for certain wire ropes. I had asked a local rigger to make a stainless steel cable for me and he had planned to use aluminum sleeves, but this...

Re: Craigslist - SJ21 MKII - Athens GA
FWIW, I believe this boat is one that I looked at about a year ago. From memory, here are a few things prospective buyers may want to give attention to: 1. Water leaked thru forward hatch. Common for this boat. However, it may need a gasket. Of greater concern is the V-berth cushions were wet and pe...

Re: Keel Saver
According to the manufacturer, the keel cable should have at least 3 full turns of cable around the reel when any load is on the cable. So "just enough" extra cable is actually not enough to safely operate the winch. Here's a link to the owner's manual for the winch. http://www.dutton-lainson.com/20...

Re: core
No experience here, but I understand the underlying concern with balsa rot to be a soft/spongy deck. In other words, a structural issue. If you feel that the boat is safe, sail it for this season and save the big project work for off-season. On some of the other forums, I recall there are some good ...

Re: What would you like to see from this Class/Website?
As a SJ21 newbie, one request/suggestion is... Have a minimalist (please, not a half-page biography) signature when you post that includes your city/state, your boat's year and mark (MK-I, Mk-II, Mk-3), [and perhaps racer/cruiser/both]. Many times, just knowing whether east coast or west coast is a ...

Re: How to: Select & Install an Adjustable (not split) Back
Now THAT"S a clear cockpit! However, to rig my boat with either that headknocker on the boom or stand-up block/cleat on the floor, I would not know the specific parts to order. The headknocker in the photo appears to a "single block with cam cleat" but what's the sheave diam? Part# would be even bet...

Couple of diagrams are in this link. Hope the experts will chime in because I've yet to fly spinnaker and also need help.
